Last week, Friday evening, I enjoyed a long overdue girls' night in, with my bestest gal pals. The stress of the week had left us all craving some pampering and bonding time. 4 weeks earlier I had sent a whatsapp invitation to my closest girlfriends, promising a night of relaxation and laughter.
As the doorbell chimed, the sound of giggles filled the air. In came Emma, with her infectious smile, followed by Sarah, always with a funny story to tell, and Laura, carrying a bag of goodies, teasing us about her high new healthier cacao treats inside.
Our girls' pamper and wellbeing night began with a spread of delicious snacks and some bubbly kombucha. It was to be a healthy, hangover-free evening. We shared stories, reminisced about old times, and laughed until our bellies ached. It was clear that this was exactly what we all needed.
Next, we decided to indulge in some DIY healthy face masks. Laura, our resident skincare expert, had brought an array of organic ingredients. We mashed avocados, mixed honey and yoghurt, and even tried a few unusual combinations like papaya and coconut oil. Our faces turned into a canvas of creamy concoctions, and we couldn't stop giggling at our reflections in the mirror.
With our masks on, we settled onto the couch, where I had prepared a lineup of classic chick flicks. We decided to start with "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," a timeless favourite. The movie took us all back in time to our teenage years, and there was some dancing and singing, no-one caring one bit about how off-key we were.
As the credits rolled, we realised that sometimes all you need is the company of your closest friends, a little pampering, and a dash of nostalgia to rejuvenate your spirit. Our girls' night ended with a promise to make this a more regular occurrence, reminding us that no matter how busy life gets, our bond and friendship are something truly special. Thanks besties. 💃🌸
I feel like I should also share some of my all-time favourite DIY face mask recipes using organic and less common ingredients. We made 3 of these. They're messy, fun, edible. Great for a pamper night with friends or a quiet night in.
